In a new poll of 724 Kāpiti locals, 82% said Kāpiti Airport should remain open, operational, and be recognised as the integral economic development asset it is. 84% agreed that Kāpiti Airport is vital for medical flights and for Civil Defence in case of a major earthquake in the Wellington region. 

 

We wish to ensure you're aware of what all local candidates think about the future of the airport ahead of the local body elections. We invited every candidate to submit their response. While there are no easy 'one-word' replies for such an important question, we have worked to categorise their current position below.
